Air Break Switch is an essential unit of all overhead Power Transmission Lines which is
mainly used for connect or disconnect (on/off switching) the power system of a certain part of overhead
line and Transformer from the main distribution line.
Generally 11KV Air Break Switch & 22KV Air Break Switch are used in power distribution lines
and 33KV Air Brake Switch is used in Power Generation & Power Transmission Lines. There are
several types of Air Break Switch are found like 2 Post type, 3 Post type, Tilting type,
Rotating type, Change Over type, Single Phase, 3 Phase (Gang Operated).
Air Break Switch Specification
Air Brake Switch is made by galvanized Steel Base, Insulators, copper alloy Male-Female Contacts, Arcing Horns for power connect / disconnect operation, 2 Adjustable Pins fitted on the steel base frame both side of the operating post to limit it's travel of moving on each side, desired length of M.S. square Rod for rocking operation, desired length of G.I. Pipe to operate the Air Break Switch from ground level with operating handle. High Voltage Air Break Switch is designed as double or triple post construction which are suitable for horizontal or vertical mounting on the DP Structure. Air Break Switch are usually works in group of 3 Switches serially installed on a single steel frame whose are operates together, so they are called "Gang Operated Air Brake Switch".
